Marble Runs
These marble runs were early attempts at creating satisfying loops. Looping 3D animations, like that of the work of Gareth Fowler (garethwashere) and Andreas Wannerstedt, were probably the reason I wanted to learn Blender in the first place.
I had only started learning animation in Blender with these projects, but I hadn’t (at this point) experimented with physics simulations. As a result of manually key-framing the animation, the physics aren’t quite right. That said, I still think I managed to capture the general look I was after.
To help the animations feel more complete, I was keen to use sound effects and/or music. I wrote a short piece of music for one project and kept purely SFX/foley for the other. I think capturing SFX is a really interesting part of the process and it really helps to give a sense of what materials are being used in the scene.
